How this works
Position sizing answers one question: given how much you're willing to lose on a single trade, how large should that trade actually be? This calculator takes your account size and a risk percentage to determine a fixed dollar amount you're willing to risk, then divides that by the distance between your entry and stop-loss price to find how many units you can hold.
A common starting point among discretionary traders is risking 0.5% to 2% of an account per trade, though the right number depends heavily on your own risk tolerance, strategy win rate and how many concurrent positions you hold.
